Stiff Goldenrod

Picture
Solidago rigidia
Stiff Goldenrod is a perennial plant native to Wyoming.  It is able to adapt to a wide range of soils, and is important to a variety of pollinators. Monarch butterflies frequently visit Stiff Goldenrod as they prepare for migration routes. Goldenrod blooms in late summer to early fall, and the seeds are very beneficial to birds in the later season. These plants usually grow 3—5 feet tall. Goldenrods self seed easily, so be sure to plant them somewhere you don’t mind them spreading out.
