The District has equipment available for rent that can allow local landowners to implement conservation practices.
No-Tills preserve soil health by minimizing disturbance to the ground. This prevents erosion, and reduces harm to existing vegetative and bacterial populations. No-Till planting can also reduce competition from weeds, by not turning new seedbeds to the top of the soil.
The District acquired the Great Plains 1006NT Drill in spring of 2020.
We have had several people rent the drill with great success. The Drill requires as 75hp tractor to operate. Click on the picture of the drill to be taken to the page with the owners manual, drill features and rental contract. Call the office if you are interested in renting the drill. |
The District acquired the Kasco versa No-till in spring of 2021. During the first year with the large drill we realized there was a demand for a drill that didn't require heavy machinery to operate.
The Kasco-Versa can be operated by an ATV or UTV with a 450cc+ engine.
In our field tests the results of seeding look very promising, and the drill is user-friendly.
