Converse County Conservation District provides financial assistance, through cost-share payments to landowners, to apply soil and water conservation or community enhancement practices. By “sharing the costs” with CCCD, Converse County residents can undertake projects they could not afford to do on their own. If you have an area of concern, we can help you find the right solution!
Septic System Improvement The District offers cost-share funding to address individual septic systems that require renovations to minimize the probability of surface water contamination. The Converse County Conservation District is offering this funding to landowners of Converse County to address non-functioning septic systems on a voluntary basis. Septic system projects will be cost-shared at 25% district money (up to $2000.00) and 75% participant money.
Tree Planting/Windbreak Program Converse County Conservation District established this program to assist landowners who are interested in establishing windbreaks for conservation. The program provides 50% cost-share, up to a maximum of $1000.00 per landowner. All tree planting projects must meet the minimum standards and requirements of the program to qualify for cost-share dollars.
Community Pride Enhancement Program The Converse County Conservation District’s Community Enhancement Program provides for conservation and resource enhancement on public properties, for public benefit.

*NEW* Small Acreage Pilot Program A new program where the CCCD will assist landowners in developing a “resource plan” to better manage their small acreage.
What is it? A new program where the Converse County Conservation District will assist landowners in developing a “Resource Plan” to better manage their small acreage. In the last few years, the amount of people purchasing small acreages has increased immensely. Many, however, are not familiar with the many ways to better manage their property and some simply can’t afford to pay the entire cost of implementing effective practices. This in turn can cause unnecessary problems for themselves as well as their neighbors. Some examples are properties that are run over by noxious weeds or excessive manure and soil runoff, usually due to poor pasture management. We want to help!
An enticing part of this program is “cost-share” which means the District will help eligible landowners by providing financial assistance for selected practices that are approved by the Board of Supervisors.
Another important part of the program is “education.” The District will conduct a series of FREE workshops and provide beneficial information to landowners. Let us know if you have a certain topic you would like to see covered in a workshop.
Who is eligible to participate? Anyone can attend to workshops, but the following requirements must be met to be eligible to participate in the Resource Plan/Cost-Share portion of the program: First, your parcel must meet the size requirement of one (1) to twenty (20) acres. Secondly, your property must be located within the Converse County Conservation District boundaries.
How do I apply? All you need to do to get started is fill out the “Resource Plan Request” which can be obtained at the CCCD office. This lets us know you want us to assess your property. Once we receive the completed, signed form and confirm your eligibility, we will arrange a time to go out and look at your property. |
