Education and Information

 

Goal One:  The Converse County Conservation District will use

educational tools to inform the public about natural resource issues and

projects.

                                                                                                                             

Action:  The district will hold  workshops in 2008/2009 on a variety of

topics including: Windbreak Planning and Design, Small Acreage Pasture

Management, Off the Grid, Weed Identification and Management, and

Xeriscaping. 

 

Action:  The district will send out newsletters to rural and urban

landowners six times during the year.

 

Action:  The district will provide educational articles for the Glenrock

Independent, the Douglas Budget and The Glenrock Bird newspapers.

 

Action:  The district will utilize local radio stations to advertise programs and activities.

 

Action:  The district will be available for informational booths and group speaking.

 

Action:  The district will man a booth at the Wyoming State Fair in August of 2009.

 

Action:  The district will host field tours of natural resource projects

going on throughout the county.

 

Action:  The district will provide willing participants with Soil and Water Stewardship Materials in April 2009.

 

Goal Two:  The Converse County Conservation District will work with

local schools to educate both teachers and students about conservation and  agriculture.

Action:  The district will make available the Wyoming Ag in the Classroom Discovery Tool Chest to teachers.

 

Action:  The district will match activities to standards and  provide this information to teachers.

 

Action:  The district will promote landowners to become involved with educating students and host field trips.

 

Action:  The district will sponsor poster contests.

 

Action:  The district will co-sponsor Black Hills Natural Resource Youth Camp in June 2009.

 

Action:  The district will provide in-class lessons as requested.

 

Action:  The district will join with interested teachers to do monitoring during World Water Monitoring week in October 2008.
