Water Quality and Quantity
Goal One: The Converse County Conservation District will assist landowners in water development projects. Action: The district will design and implement wells, windmills, solar pump systems, livestock and wildlife tanks, and irrigation conveyance structures, where needed and when financial assistance is available.
Action: The district will develop springs and stock ponds, where needed and when financial assistance is available.
Action: The district will address silt removal, where needed and when financial assistance is available.
Goal Two: The Converse County Conservation District will maintain and improve, where possible, water quality within the county. Action: The district will offer free well water testing for drinking wells in May 2009.
Action: The district will provide education to landowners about proper septic system installation and maintenance.
Action: The district will work with Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality on monitoring efforts.
Action: The district will participate in the Cheyenne River Watershed Improvement Study.
Goal Three: The Converse County Conservation District will work with landowners to address drought-related issues. Action: The district will educate landowners on water saving techniques.
Action: The district will promote xeriscaping and the use of native species and drought tolerant trees and shrubs. |

Natural Gas and Minerals
Goal One: The Converse County Conservation District will stay informed of coalbed methane and mineral development occurring within the county as it relates to water quality, water quantity, soils, and habitat. Action: The district will stay informed of the natural gas development occurring within the Northern/Cheyenne River Watershed.
Action: The district will be involved in the Cheyenne River Watershed Tech Group.
Action: The district will educate land users and students about natural gas and minerals as natural resources. |
