Landfills, Waste, and Recycling

 

Goal One:  The Converse County Conservation District will provide an outlet for Converse County residents to properly dispose of household wastes.

Action:  The district will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste

Collection Day in September of 2009.

 

Goal Two:  The Converse County Conservation District will work with the City of Douglas, the Town of Glenrock, and the County of Converse to

improve the recycling program within the county.

Action:  The district will work with city officials to increase the number of recycling bins and expand recycling opportunities in Douglas and Glenrock.

 

Action:  The district will provide educational materials regarding

recycling and composting.

Forestry

 

Goal One:  The Converse County Conservation District will promote the planting and care of trees.

Action:  The district will offer a seedling tree program.

 

Action:  The district will offer a windbreak cost share program. 

 

Action:  The district will provide tree care and maintenance references.

 

Action:  The district will provide fabric layer equipment free for individuals who purchase weed barrier from the district.

 

Action:  The district will make available to the public the tree planter, fabric layer, and trailer for a minimal fee.

 

Action:  The district will offer technical assistance in windbreak design.

 

Action:  The district will make available products to aid in the survival of trees.

 

Action:  The district will work with 4H clubs, county commissioners, and others in planning, planting, and maintenance of windbreaks, such as the

windbreak on Highway 59.

 

Action:  The district will Sponsor Trees for Trash programs in both Douglas and Glenrock.
